GENERAL DUTIES SUMMARY: The Dean of Students will provide support to school administrators for the overall leadership at each school.

 

FTE: 1.0

 

POSITION START DATE:   December 16, 2019

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree preferred 
  • Holds or qualifies to obtain an appropriate license from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon 
  • Maintains integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons 
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse constituent groups

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed, or currently enrolled in, administrative credential program 
  • Bilingual, bicultural and biliterate abilities in English and Spanish or other languages related to the student and family population of the District
  • Demonstrated teacher leadership in equity, instruction, culture, and climate.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds 
  • Assist with monitoring and supervision of school facilities 
  • Support the student code of conduct by applying restorative practices and assist in the development of a community of care and belonging for all stakeholders.
  • Support student attendance 
  • Meet with students and/or advisors to understand attendance patterns
  • coordinate and facilitate family partnership around attendance
  • Assist in ensuring and improving student success
  • Assist with monitoring and supervision of school facilities 
  • Apply trauma-informed understanding
  • Support the development, adoption, and success of school values and policies to support collective well-being
  • Assist in the planning, developing and implementing of students supports by: 
    • Assisting in the work of discovering the actionable root-cause of student struggle and designing interventions
  • Serve as a resource to staff in supporting healthy classroom learning communities
  • Work as a member of the Equity Team 
  • Assist with coordinating communication and planning around students placed through the expulsion process
  • Cultivate and model a caring working and learning environment 
  • Other duties as assigned by school administrator
